How much are your rooms and how do I make a reservation?

Reservations may be made via this website by visiting the reservations page only. Please see the "Reservations" page for details. Fees are given in US dollars and are as follows:

Mixed Dorm $15.00 per person per night

Gender Specific Dorm $20.00 per person per night

Couples room $50.00 per night

In addition to this fee schedule, guests will be required to assist in small household cleaning chores. This falls in line with the spirit of a home hostel, that the entire "family" pitches in to keep the home running smoothly and cleanly. These chores are generally very small and quickly done. They can include vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, collecting sheets to be laundered and other similar tasks.

What type of accommodations do you offer?

We have separate male and female dorms which are similar to shared housing in college dorms as well as a dorm that houses people of both genders. If you prefer, we have limited space for couples, advance reservations are highly recommended as this space is usually filled quickly.

How is a home hostel different?

We enjoy sharing our home with visitors from around the world of all ages and backgrounds. A home hostel is friendlier and warmer in spirit than typical hostels. We offer all the typical amenities you would find at your own home including a fully equipped kitchen and free internet use in addition to many others. Please see the "Services" page for a complete listing. A home hostel is not a bed and breakfast, although we do offer to share our meals for small additional fee. This fee is waived if you cook.

What type of hiking trails can I find in Skagway?

The most well-known trail in the area is the Chilkoot trail which the gold rushers used. It is also the most difficult of the available trails. There are some less taxing trails to lakes on the mountains surrounding Skagway as well as some walking trails leading to various lookout points with gorgeous views of the ocean and mountains. Please see the "Links" page for more information about these trails and other sights.

How do I get to the hostel?

There are several ways to reach the hostel after arriving in Skagway. If you are arriving by boat, we will meet you at the ferry terminal. We meet most ferries as they arrive. If you would like to walk, you may go straight up Broadway to 3rd Street. Turn left and continue for approximately 1 1/2 blocks. Alternatively, the major bus line in town stops at the hotel only 2 blocks from us. The hostel is clearly marked with a sign in front and you can see an overview with landmarks noted here. The red star indicates the hostel.

Is there any lockout period during the day?

There is no lockout period. Check in is available whenever we are home and from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm daily. If you arrive early and cannot find one of us to check you in, there is storage space available for your luggage while you go out and cruise the town until check in time.
